24 Hour FL Abortion Wait Challenged Again

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) _ A group suing to stop Florida’s 24-hour waiting period for abortions is asking the state Supreme Court to review an appeals court decision that lets the law go into effect.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Florida asked the Supreme Court this weekend to review Friday’s ruling by the 1st District Court of Appeal.

The appeals court lifted an injunction approved by a lower court judge that put enforcement of the law on hold.

The waiting period was signed into law last year by Gov. Rick Scott.

The ACLU is suing on behalf of a Gainesville clinic and argues that it puts a hardship on women seeking an abortion.

It claims it violates privacy rights in the state constitution.
