LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) — A Florida man and three dogs died in a house fire.
The Ledger reports that 78-year-old Edward McLaughlin was found dead in the Lakeland home early Wednesday morning.
Polk County Fire Rescue says the house was completely engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived six minutes after a 911 call. Rescue workers made their way to a back bedroom and found McLaughlin’s body seven minutes after that.
Authorities say six other family members were able to escape.
The cause of the fire was being investigated.
