1 Dead, 1 Critical After Tampa Bar Shooting

The Tampa Police Department is asking patrons and employees to come forward with information on a double shooting that left one man dead and another critically injured outside a bar.

Police officers responded to Chic’s Bar on Saturday at approximately 11:45 p.m. to investigate a shots fired call. When officers arrived they located two victims lying in the back parking lot with gunshot wounds.

They performed CPR on both victims until paramedics arrived. 32-year-old David Cooper was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The second victim, 29-year-old Jonathan Cardenas-Calderon, is currently listed in critical condition at a local hospital.

Homicide detectives are actively following up on leads to identify the suspect in this case. Based on the preliminary investigation, the shooting appears to be drug related and not a random act of violence.
