TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — A Tampa man was shot and wounded after police say he barricaded himself inside a home and threatened officers.
Police say 45-year-old Greg Allen Hutchenson was in critical but stable condition at a Tampa hospital after Tuesday’s shooting.
Police responded to the home Tuesday afternoon, following reports of an argument outside. Hutchenson’s father told police his son was mentally unstable and hadn’t been taking his medication. The father said Hutchenson found two guns he and his wife had been hiding from Hutchenson. The parents wanted Hutchenson to give the guns back, but Hutchenson refused.
Police say Hutchenson talked to officers when they first arrived but eventually barricaded himself inside and began pointing a gun out the window. Officers opened fire, hitting Hutchenson in the chest.
No officers were injured.
