Dense fog hovering over the Tampa Bay area this morning may reduce visibility to less than a half mile in some areas, experts said.
The adverse conditions prompted the National Weather Service to issue an advisory for 15 counties, including the entire Tampa Bay area.
The fog was expected to last through much of the morning, with some clearing expected by 9 a.m., experts said. The NWS warned drivers to slow down, use low-beam headlights, keep more distance between vehicles and proceed with general caution on roadways.
Areas of low clouds will continue to hover over some areas throughout the day as temperatures climb to the mid 80s, forecasters said.
