Man Calls 911 67 Times, Jailed

Hillsborough deputies arrested a man they say made dozens of frivolous 911 calls in a period of two hours.

On Monday evening, Clarence McDonald, 37, was riding in a car that was being driven by Bonnie Martinez, 36. McDonald called 911 and told the operator that he was being chased and shot at.

Police say that McDonald was vague about his location and that they sent patrol cars as well as the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Air Service to help.

McDonald continued to call 911 a total of 67 times. He remained unclear about his situation and refused to stop the car to have police help him.

Police say McDonald was only on the line for 30 seconds for many of those 911 calls. However, in one of those calls, he did provide a description of the car he was riding in.

Sheriff’s deputies finally spotted McDonald just after midnight and pulled his car over. The officers located the cell phone that McDonald was using and arrested him for misuse of 911. Martinez was arrested for possession of cocaine.

McDonald is being held on $2,000 bail. Martinez was released on $2,000 bond.
