Publix tied at the top for favorite grocery retailers

Lakeland-based Publix is tied for first on a new survey of America’s favorite grocery retailers.

The study by Market Force Information queried 13 thousand shoppers on several categories like value, cashier courtesy, fast checkout, product availability, ease of finding products.

The study found that Publix is number one in the nation when it comes to store organization, cleanliness of stores, and fast checkout.

Publix tied for first place nationwide overall with New York-based Wegman’s, which is known for its fresh produce, reasonable prices, massive stores, and specialty department service.

The survey also served as a roadmap to success to all 23 supermarket chains included in the study.

It found that customers want locally-sourced meat, produce, and dairy products. They also want meal kit delivery service and so-called “click and collect” where customers order items online and then pick them up at the store.

Publix is the largest employee-owned grocery chain in the U.S. Founded in 1930, it was also recently ranked one of Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For.

By the way, 23rd and last on the Market Force Information survey of America’s best grocery chains—Walmart
