Oscars are movie fans Super Bowl.
For movie goers the 87th annual Academy Awards are just as big as the Super Bowl, World Cup or the Olympics. The Oscars rating will likely be very big and there are plenty of interesting things to look out for come Sunday night.
There will be plenty of party’s around the Tampa Bay area and around the country. Things will get underway at around 5 p.m. with the always fun to watch red carpet moment. It is where the stars enter the Dolby Theatre, in Los Angeles.

What time do the Oscars start?
The award show will begin promptly at 8:30 p.m. EST. However, red carpet coverage will begin at 5:30 p.m. EST on E! and ABC will go live at 7 p.m. with Jess Cagle, Amy Robach, Robin Roberts, Lara Spencer, Michael Strahan, and Joe Zee.
Who votes for the Oscars?
Following last year’s diversity controversy, everyone wants to know who is responsible for picking the winners.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is made up of over 6,000 voting members of film-industry professionals. Each member votes in their own field for nominations, but all members are allowed to vote across all fields for the winner.

What channel is the Oscars on?
The Academy Awards will air on ABC, after the network extended its contract with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences through 2020. The show is expected to run just over 3 hours.
Who is the Oscars host?
This year, Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting the awards show for the first time. The late night talk show host was a former Q-105 FM D.J. in Tampa back in the late 1980’s.
