After signing an executive order that stopped his own policy of separating immigrant families along the United States border with Mexico, President Donald Trump is hitting the road.

Tonight, at 7:30 p.m. ET he will be in the key battle ground state of Minnesota for a big rally. He will see if his base is still with him in a big way after one of the biggest crises of his presidency.

In a rare move President Trump who has been on the offense and proud of his administration’s policy of separating migrant children from their parents, softened his stance a bit. Trump backed down on Wednesday afternoon, signing an executive order that aims to halt the practice shortly before he left for Minnesota.

Despite softening his stance, a bit, he vowed to keep his Zero Tolerance policy in place. He feels that he has a winning issue that will help his party in the all-important mid-terms.

Talking to a small business group in a speech Tuesday, a fiery Trump showed no willingness to halt the practice, then urged House Republicans to take action instead.

There was a very strong national bipartisan backlash over the Trump administration’s policy of splitting families. But Trump loves to hit the road and get his battery charged by his load crowds that love to hear him talk.

The Democrats are making sure that the people of Minnesota know what President Trump and the Republican Party feels about immigration along with Healthcare and other hot button issues. Come November the state will big a big time swing state when you consider that voters will vote for a brand new governor and two senators, due to the resignation of Democratic Sen. Al Franken over sexual misconduct accusations. Nonpartisan analysts consider four House seats — two each held by Democrats and Republicans — as toss-ups.

This will be key because of what happened in 2016 where, Democrat Hillary Clinton won the state by fewer than 2 percentage points. So, Trump hopes to push the Republican agenda in Minnesota and other states over the next week.
