Jobs Easier to Find in Florida According to Latest Unemployment Numbers

More Floridians are able to find work according to the latest unemployment numbers.

Statewide, the April jobless rate was 4.5 percent, down three-tenths of a point from March.

10,900 jobs were created in April across Florida, lagging behind several other states, but overall job growth in the past year here is among the best in the nation.

Monroe County had the state’s lowest April unemployment rate at 2.6 percent.

Florida’s unemployment rate is still a tick higher than the nationwide 4.4 percent in April.

Governor Rick Scott continues to bash state lawmakers for deep cuts at Visit Florida, the state’s tourism agency, and Enterprise Florida, the state’s business procurement arm, saying those two agencies are largely responsible for Florida’s economic recovering.

Both agencies are embroiled in controversy over how they use taxpayer money and their unwillingness to be transparent about it.
