Raven-Symone Leaves ‘The View’ To Reboot Disney Hit

For those of you that grew up in the 90’s you probably grew up watching Raven Symone star in her hit Disney comedy, That’s So Raven. Good news for those that enjoyed the show, it is back for a sequel.

Raven-Symone announced she is leaving ABC daytime talk show The View to develop a reboot to the old Disney Channel show that she starred in as a psychic high-school student involved in family-friendly shenanigans.

Now almost a decade later since the show ended, the 30-year-old will executive produce on the new show, as well as start as Raven Baxter, the now divorced mother to two pre-teens. One of the teens will have inherited psychic powers.

Raven-Symone will relocate to Los Angeles to do the show.

That’s So Raven

The original series aired from 2003-2007. Starring alongside Raven-Symone was Orlando Brown, as Eddie, and Anneliese Van Der Pol, as Chelsea.

The show was nominated in 2005 and 2007 for Emmy Awards for Outstanding Children’s Programming. It also had a spin-off series, Cory in the House, starring Raven Baxter’s little brother.

Can A Sequel Survive In This Day And Age?

In the past couple of years we’ve seen many classics resurface to be brought back to life. On February 26, 2016 the sequel to Full House, Fuller House, was released on Netflix.

Fans went crazy for the new Netflix original series that was based on the family sitcom that aired 1987-1995.

Fuller House ensembles most of the cast that reprise their roles from Full House or came on as guest appearances, with the exception of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. In fact, the new original series was such a hit that Netflix renewed for a second season of 13 episodes on March 2, 2016 and production for the second season began on May 5, 2016.

Besides Fuller House, Disney Channel watchers caught a glimpse of their children through the sequel Girl Meets World. Based off the series Boy Meets World, the sequel released in 2014 got a lot of hype from Disney lovers.

Girl Meets World is centered around the life of Cory and Topanga’s daighter Riley Matthews. The show is said to end in season 4 with ‘Goodbye’ as the last episode.

Fans of all of these shows are taking to social media to express how happy they are to hear the news of the return of That’s So Raven to join the group of other sequels made.
