Terminally Ill Man Marries In The Back Of An Ambulance

After being diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer earlier this month, Peyton Williams III of Smyrna, Ga. tied the knot with his girlfriend in the back of an ambulance.

The 62-year-old married Ruth Terry, 67, on Tuesday after seven years of dating. According to The Marietta Daily Journal, Williams recited his vows from a gurney inside a parked ambulance at the local courthouse.

“He went from work to hospice in about seven days,” his daughter Tracey Hazen said of his quickly deteriorating condition. “I’m glad that he can go really with a sense of peace that Ruth will be taken care of.”

Sadly, Wiilliams isn’t the only man to attend a wedding on a hospital gurney of late. On Saturday, terminally ill Ohio man Scott Nagy was too sick to actually “walk” his daughter down the aisle, so he did it from the gurney.
