HOUSTON (AP) — Southern Baptists who disagree over what the Bible says about salvation and predestination have had it explained for them by Willie Robertson of TV’s Duck Dynasty.
The bearded Robertson, dressed in hunter’s camouflage, told pastors gathering for the Southern Baptists’ annual meeting in Houston that seeking converts can be compared to hunting ducks.
He said when a hunter plants himself where he expects to see ducks, and then they fly over, it’s called “pre-duckstination.”
Robertson said the hunter can then “elect to shoot them of his own free will.”
Robertson’s backwoods theology won laughter and applause from Baptist pastors who are divided over whether Jesus Christ died for all who freely accept salvation or only for the predestined “elect.”
