NFL is a Distraction America Does Not Currently Need

NFL – Roger ‘Fidel’ Goodell wields his monetary leverage again. According to The New York Times the NFL was able to get Sony Pictures to alter Will Smith’s new film ‘Concussion’ to prevent making them look bad.

Should this game be the center of our culture? Are we giving it too much of ourselves? What are the consequences of acting like a bunch of children?

Its a game, a distraction but its an industry and it plays the decompression role in our society. You watch a game after losing your job, maybe cut in pay or your facing a divorce. Its natural for people to engage in competition even if it is vicariously.

There is a place for the NFL. But when it becomes more centric and more followed than major country issues such as immigration, national debt, mental health, we as a country are out of balance.
