‘Modern Family’ Big Winner With DVRs

NEW YORK (AP) — ABC’s “Modern Family” is No. 1 in what is becoming an increasingly important measurement for television networks.

Through the first two weeks of the season, the comedy gained more viewers when DVR usage was added in than any other show on TV. Nielsen says an average of 14 million people watched the show live on Wednesday nights, and an additional 4.5 million recorded “Modern Family” and watched it within seven days.

Eight other shows — six of them on CBS — added 3 million viewers or more through DVRs.

CBS dominated live action again last week. ABC fans showed the love for Tim Allen, sending his new comedy “Last Man Standing” into the top 10 for its premiere.
