Gear Up For The Next Star Wars Film As New Title Released

Star Wars VIII Finally Has A Title

Well, December can’t come fast enough. Fresh off the success of Rogue One it seems that Lucas Films and Disney are already teasing what’s to come next in the Star Wars universe—Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

The poster was released via the Star Wars social media pages and it sent shock waves up and down the Internet as fans shared their thoughts—and excitement over the upcoming film. Another interesting note is how the press release was worded. In the release, the film is described as being the “next chapter in the Skywalker saga.”

This could mean a few things as the success of Rogue One has already shown that Star Wars’ fans want more of the universe. One of the things it will definitely mean is that Disney is going to branch out into other movies without any hesitation of not including the original cast. The Mouse has its eyes on making Star Wars into an all-encompassing brand that can have any movie stand on its own.

The film will release on December 8th of this year. The film will bring back the surviving original cast as well as the new characters introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. While the plot hasn’t been officially released one would have to assume it will follow Rey (Daisy Ridley) as she tries to understand the Force along with Finn (John Boyega) as they battle against Kylo Ren (Adam Driver.)

Among many things, the film should answer what happens to these characters as well as where does Rey come from and what her lineage is—something that many fans have had a lot of different speculations on. The film will also include Carrie Fisher as TMZ reported that she had finished her filming before she passed away back in December.

“There will be a handful of new cast members in ‘Episode VIII’ but also all the cast members you see here tonight will be in it as well,” Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilms, said via Bang ShowBiz and the Daily Mail.
