The first movie in the series, Dolphin Tale, surprised everyone by becoming a huge success and seeing the dolphin featured int he film, Winter, getting worldwide fans. No one anticipated a sequel. But just as the film crew was wrapping up the movie, a real situation emerged that inspired a second movie.

“We’re not aware of any major motion picture based on real life that had a sequel like this,” said Clearwater Marine Aquarium CEO David Yates, according to WTSP.
