Ben Affleck’s Cover-Up on Slave Owning Ancestors Worse than Grim Revelation

HOLLYWOOD – A-List actor Ben Affleck tried to omit his family’s history by coercing PBS genealogy show ‘Finding Your Roots’ into redacting a slave owner relative.

Affleck panicked. That panic consumed him and he made a bad call. More people now know about PBS ‘Finding Your Roots’ than would have if this cover-up didn’t break news.

The puzzling thing is that this isn’t uncharted territory. CNN’s Anderson Cooper found out on the same program that his ancestor’s also owned slaves. Anderson owned the outcome and is better for it.

The act of the cover-up is worse than having a ancestor participating in slavery 150 years ago. Affleck wielded his power, influence and money to compromise journalism to benefit himself.
