Zoo Offers Massages Done By Pythons
A massage sounds great, but what if it was done by Burmese pythons? Seriously -- the Cebu City Zoo, located in the Philippines, offered massages for anyone who volunteered to have these snakes lay on them.
The snakes are named Michelle, Walter, EJ and Daniel - are taken out of their cages and placed one at a time on top of visitors, who lie down on a bamboo bed near the zoo's main entrance. Zookeepers feed them 10 chickens beforehand so they don't get hungry and decide to dig in. The so called 'patients' can shout, scream, even move around while the pythons are on top of them.
The zookeepers standby as the snakes slither around the zoo-goers for 15 minutes.
The zoo's manager, Giovanni Romarate, owns Michelle and Walter and insists the massages are safe. 'Snakes do not attack as long as they are not harmed. We also made sure that we use pythons because they are not venomous.'
