Woman Dragged By Truck Driver In St. Pete

Police say on Thursday, at approximately 9:56 p.m., a 39 year-old woman was driving in the area of 2nd Avenue South and 2nd Street when she noticed a pickup truck tailgating her.

The driver of the truck (who is an unidentified white male approximately 30 to 40 years of age) honked his horn, went around the woman and then began slamming on his breaks forcing the woman to come to an abrupt stop, according to St. Pete police.

At a red light at 4th Avenue South and 4th Street, the woman exited her vehicle to confront the truck driver about what just happened. As she approached the driver’s window, he reached out and grabbed her by the right arm. He then began to accelerate through the intersection against the red light, dragging the woman about 50 feet before releasing her arm. She fell to the pavement and then was run over by the truck’s rear tire.

The suspect vehicle is described as an older model silver or beige Toyota Tacoma and was last seen entering westbound I-175 at 4th Street South.

The victim has been admitted to Bayfront Hospital for severe injuries to her right arm as the result of the truck running over her. As the suspect is still at large, police will not be releasing the victim’s identity at this time.
