Trespasser Gets Stuck in NJ Water Plant Pipe

MANALAPAN, N.J. (AP) — Rescuers are working to free a man stuck in a pipe at a New Jersey water treatment plant.

United Water spokesman Rich Henning says the man broke into the plant that treats and pumps water for the township of Manalapan (muh-NAL’-uh-pan). Workers heard cries for help coming from a pipe around 7 a.m. Friday.

Henning says the outflow pipe is used for cleaning a storage facility and is no more than 24 inches wide.

Henning says there’s no problem with the water quality.

TV news footage shows firefighters huddled over the pipe.
