Tallahassee: Police Investigating Car Thefts

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Police are seeking the public’s help in finding out who is stealing cars in Tallahassee.

Investigators said Friday that 81 vehicles have been stolen in the city over the past 30 days. That’s an 80 percent increase over the same period last year.

In some cases, police say an unlocked car contained a spare key for another nearby vehicle. The thieves broke into the first car, found the spare keys and took both vehicles.

Police say motorists should always lock their cars and either remove all valuables or store them in the trunk.

Investigators have arrested several suspects who are linked to 24 thefts. But police believe other suspects are working as a group to steal cars.

Anyone with information is asked to call 850-891-4255.
