SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) — The Florida Highway Patrol says a portion of southbound Interstate 75 is closed due to pieces of concrete falling from an overpass.
The concrete fell from the overpass at University Parkway in Sarasota County on Monday morning.
It was not clear how long the highway will remain closed.
Southbound I-75 traffic is being redirected to SR 70. Traffic can take US Hwy 41 to SR 780 (Fruitville Road) for southbound I-75 re-entry (Milepost 210).
The westbound lanes of University in the vicinity of the I-75 overpass are now closed as well.
