Davie: Infant Left At Fire Station

An infant, thought to be between 6 and 9 months of age, was left at a fire station in Davie on Thursday, police said.

Someone left the child around 3:30 p.m. at a designated Safe Haven drop off at 6901 Orange Dr. Police said the baby appeared to be in good health.

Florida’s Safe Haven law, passed in 2000, established locations — usually fire stations and hospitals — where parents of newborns up to 3 days old could drop them off without fear of prosecution.
