Thompson: Random Thoughts On Liberty
USA Today reports that Florida seeks to fill its skies with drones. Unwarranted surveillance is being promoted as a fast-growing industry. And Fox News reported that drones are vulnerable to terrorist hijacking. I was an Air Force officer in the early 2000s when we first deployed drones to spy on and shoot our enemies; drones are to be used against Al Qaeda and the Taliban, not Americans!
The citizenry that waits too long to say, “Get out of my house, papers and effects!” will be the citizenry that eventually has to say, “Get out of my person; get out of my head!” Then, of course, it’s too late. They have you.
President Obama is losing support among Independents and liberals; even black and Jewish voters are turning away. He better fire up his core constituency: Dead people and illegals.
“He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.” – The Declaration of Independence (one of the abuses listed against King George III)
The Republican House of Representatives passed a bill to expand the scope of TSA’s intelligence gathering. In order to avoid accountability, they “suspended the rules” with a “voice vote” that keeps no record. GOP Congressmen support TSA.
Sen. Marco Rubio says America is not going to deport 12 million illegal aliens, nor are we going to grant amnesty to the same 12 million; he says the solution lies in the middle of those two ideas. What?! How about this: (1) Secure the border; (2) Turn off the magnets of jobs, education and medical care. Let’s just start with that!
It’s Flip the Tortilla time in America: (1) Tear down red-light cameras and mount them in the offices of politicians and bureaucrats; (2) Force them to get licenses to prove their competency the way they make us; (3) Begin random mandatory testing on elected officials … on the Constitution; (4) Fine the next politician $10,000 who votes for food stamps, the same amount they fine us for feeding dolphins.
My 8-year-old daughter was watching Alice in Wonderland, and said, “Daddy, if there is one line that stands out in this movie, it is this: ‘From the moment I fell down that rabbit hole I’ve been told what I must do and who I must be.’” God has stamped freedom upon her sweet soul, and it’s my job to protect it. Thomas Jefferson said, “The same God that gave us life gave us liberty at the same time.”
