Talk Back Florida: The Fight Against Ovarian Cancer
Missed part of the show? Here’s a rewind of the program on May 10, 2014.
Talk Back Florida started at Mayor Buckhorn’s first annual Mac & Cheese Throwdown at Curtis Hixon Park in downtown Tampa where 28 restaurants competed for prizes. We hear it was a real crowd pleaser.
Cyber security and keeping your data and smartphone information safe was also part of the conversation. Sri Sridharan, Managing Director of the new cyber security department/degree program at USF gave us some practical safety tips.
Later in the show we talked with two amazing women, Kelly Smith & Carla Jimenez, cancer survivors who are healthy and strong after battling Ovarian cancer. We talked honestly about Ovarian cancer (I lost my best friend to this monster) and Kelly & Carla told us us the warning signs for Ovarian cancer aka: “the silent killer.” Here are some very important links for more information about Ovarian cancer and groups who can help.

We ended our show with Cirque du Soleil. Their production of Michael Jackson: Immortal World Tour opens in Gainesville May 13th and in Tampa, May 20th & 21st. We went behind the scenes to hear about this amazing traveling road show and the people who make it all happen.
