Talk Back Florida: New Laws and Florida History

Missed part of the show? Here’s a rewind of the program on May 3, 2014.

Talk Back Florida was filled with great info this week!

Wondering what’s new out of Tallahassee? Just hours after the 2014 legislative session ended Tampa Bay Times Tallahassee Bureau Chief, Steve Bousquet (Twitter @stevebousquet) came on Talk Back Florida to explain all the new laws and who did what and why! And thanks to those of you who called in to join the conversation! I’m just a Bill- School House Rock.

Later in the show we talked about some special dates in history. Fred Hearns, historian and former Dir. of the Dept. of Community Affairs for the City of Tampa was in our studio joined by historian and author Dr. Canter Brown (who called us from Georgia) to tell us about the 150th Anniversary of Freedom for Tampa’s slaves (May 5th & 6th). We also talked about the 50th anniversary of Civil Rights and the recent controversy over racist remarks made by Donald Sterling (owner of the LA Clippers).

Then my favorite bartender Chris Humpherys, from James Joyce in Ybor City, came on the show to teach us how to make the perfect drinks for Cinco de Mayo.
