Student Injured In Fire At Colorado School
WESTMINSTER, Colo. (AP) — A school district spokeswoman says a student has been injured in a fire at a suburban Denver high school.
Jefferson County Public Schools Spokeswoman Lynn Setzer said Monday that Standley Lake High School in Westminster has been closed for the day, and students are being sent home.
Setzer tells The Associated Press she doesn’t know if students were in class when the fire was reported at about 7:15 a.m. The Westminster Police Department says the blaze started in the school cafeteria and was put out by an adult with a fire extinguisher.
No additional details about the injured student were released.
Setzer says students without cars are being taken to a local middle school, where they can be picked up by their parents.
Update: The Associated Press reports that police say a student is hospitalized after setting himself on fire.
