Interview: Obama Signs Actions Taking Aim At Gender Pay Gap

President Obama on Tuesday touted executive action he was taking to help narrow the gender pay gap, while pressing Republican lawmakers to get behind the proposed Paycheck Fairness Act. The president charged that Republicans are “gumming up the works” on the issue of pay equality, and called on Americans to put pressure on lawmakers to pass the legislation. However some Republicans, like Congresswoman Cathie McMorris Rodgers, see these actions as political. A conservative scholar in Washington claims even in the West Wing, female appointees earn less, on average, than the men.
