NJ Gov. Christie coming to Fla this weekend

POLITICO is reporting today that the Democratic National Committee will mount an aggressive messaging counteroffensive during New Jersey Gov. Chris Christies upcoming fundraising trip to Florida, a DNC official said Tuesday.

Christie will visit the Sunshine State this weekend on a fundraising tour for Gov. Rick Scott, who is up for reelection later this year. This will be Christies first major fundraising effort as president of the Republican Governors Association and his first major trip out of New Jersey since becoming embroiled in the George Washington Bridge scandal.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the DNC chairwoman, will tail Christie in her home state, rolling out the red carpet and attacking Christies and Scotts records. Details of the bracketing offensive have not yet been finalized, but a DNC official indicated that the bridge scandal will be a focal point.

Although Christie has not been personally implicated in the controversial lane closures on the George Washington Bridge in September, the scandal is still considered a potential political liability if he were to run for president in 2016. MORE...
