Woman Faces Drug Charges After Traffic Stop

A woman was arrested for speeding and faces multiple drug charges after a routine traffic stop in Gulfport.

Patrol Officer Samantha Obrart conducted a traffic stop on a pickup truck that was exceeding the speed limit by 18 miles per hour in the 6000 block of Gulfport Blvd., and she subsequently arrested the driver, Jessica Leigh Odell on numerous drug charges.

Odell was found to be transporting 20 canisters of nitrous oxide, one of which was in an otherwise empty whip-cream dispenser, a device commonly used for the unlawful inhalation of the substance. Officers also found marijuana and un-prescribed Xanax in Odell’s possession.

Odell is currently in the Pinellas County jail with the following charges:

Possession of harmful chemical substancesfelony

Possession of a controlled substance (marijuana)misdemeanor

Possession of a controlled substance (Xanax)felony

Possession of drug paraphernaliamisdemeanor

Violation of probationmisdemeanor

Police have also initiated the process to seize Odell’s 2002 Dodge Ram truck under the Florida Contraband Forfeiture law.
