Wesley Chapel: Detective Tracks Down Dog’s Owner

WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. (AP) — A Pasco County Sheriff’s deputy helped reunite a dog with its owner after they became separated because of a car crash on Interstate 75.

David Boyer told The Tampa Tribune (http://bit.ly/1eGCVs2 ) the dog showed up in his driveway Thursday night. He called the number on its tag, but it went to voicemail.

Turns out, dog owner Jeff Deane had just been in a serious crash and was injured.

Boyer, part of the sheriff’s missing persons unit, used his law enforcement data base to track down Deane’s mother in Fort Myers.

Deane, an FSU student, remains in ICU in a hospital, with multiple injuries.

His mother says she’s thrilled that Boyer found her son’s beagle mix Gooseberry. The Boyer family has been taking care of the dog while Deane recovers.
