Washington Redskins lose ruling over trademark
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has canceled six trademarks of the Washington Redskins, ruling that the ‘Redskins’ nickname is “disparaging to Native Americans.” Chris and I discuss the history of the organization, how it got the name and if the team should be forced to get a new nickname or be allowed to keep it. We also go into the history of Native Americans, including scalping, which is how the term ‘redskin’ was used historically.
Obama meets with Congress to discuss Iraq
On Wednesday, President Obama met with congressional leaders to discuss the crisis in Iraq. President Obama has shifted his focus away from airstrikes in Iraq due to lack of clear targets, although no final decisions have been made and he could ultimately approve limited strikes if clearer targets emerge. At 7:10, ABC News correspondent Ann Compton joins us from the White House to discuss the latest in their findings.

State and federal health officials across the U.S. are monitoring a West Nile-like virus called CHIKV that has already affected nearly two dozen people in the season of Florida. The disease is carried by mosquitoes and while it isn’t deadly, it can have some debilitating effects. Amazon releases the new Fire Phone
On Wednesday, Amazon joined the smartphone world by launching, Amazon Fire. Some of its features — four front-facing cameras for facial tracking and a 3-D like “Dynamic Perspective,” view that can change as you move it. Congressman Jolly reveals findings from his VA intake
Congressman David Jolly revealed the findings from his recent VA intake day, where more than 300 veterans turned out to talk about their healthcare experiences. Over thirty percent of local veterans said they waited more than 45 days at some point to see a primary care physician. We’ve got more numbers from the survey that we’ll be sharing during the program.
Iraqi military claims it has taken back oil refinery in Baiji
On Wednesday, Iraq’s military claimed it had pushed back militants who stormed the country’s main oil refinery in the town of Baiji. Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki has called on the U.S. to launch air strikes against ISIS. The request was confirmed by top US military commander Gen Martin Dempsey.
