MALAYSIA FLIGHT 17’S DATA RECORDERS REVEAL MORE INFORMATION
The flight data recorder from the Malaysia Airlines jet is revealing more about what happened. According to a Ukrainian security spokesman, it shows that the plane suffered a massive, explosive loss of pressure after being punctured multiple times by shrapnel. The spokesman adds, the fragments that hit the plane came from a missile. Dispute remains over who actually might have fired such a missile. ABC News correspondent Tom Rivers will join us at 6:25.
WASHINGTON TAKES ON ITS ‘TO-DO’ LIST AS AUGUST RECESS FAST APPROACHES
The House and Senate are racing toward summer recess, hoping to escape Washington on Friday. But they’ll have to get through the White House’s To-Do List before heading home. The White House calls this bipartisan handshake on Veterans money a step in the right direction and hopes actual legislation can pass this week. The other big priority: Money to care for the immigrant children from Central America but at the moment we see no consensus on a dollar figure. The White House says Republicans filing a lawsuit against the President does not rise to the same level of importance although that’s the one item most likely to pass before vacation. ABC News white house correspondent Ann Compton will join us at 7:10.
JURY WORKS TO DECIDE JESS VENTURA DEFAMATION SUIT
Did the author of American Sniper defame former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura by claiming he’d decked Ventura in a California nightclub in 2006? That’s the question that a jury in St. Paul has been wrestling with for nearly a week and millions of dollars may be on the line. Chris Kyle, known as “America’s Deadliest Sniper” isn’t around to defend himself against the lawsuit. ABC’s Jim Ryan, who’s in Kyle’s home state of Texas, explains.
NO, LET’S NOT SHAKE ON IT – LET’S FIST BUMP
It might’ve started out as the cool athlete-to-athlete way of saying “nice play, man,” but now you might want to seal your next business deal with a fist bump. The knuckle knocking – made even more famous by President Obama and noted germaphobes like game-show host Howie Mandel – is a much more hygienic way of exchanging pleasantries, according to researchers in Wales. Because there isn’t as much skin-to-skin contact, fist bumps transfer significantly fewer bacteria than the more common handshakes. At 8:10, ABC’s Scott Goldberg will join us with the latest.
