The victims in the traffic fatality which occurred on Saturday, March 1st, 2014 at approximately 3:00 a.m. at the intersection of US 19 and MLK have been positively identified and next of kin notifications have been made, according to police.
The vehicle they were traveling in Northbound on US 19 was a 1998, 2 door silver Mercedes SLK 230.
The driver, who didn’t have a seat belt on and was ejected, has been identified as 39-year-old Nicholas Ray Osborn. His mother has been notified.
The passenger has been identified as 40-year-old Marco S. Valez of Clearwater. His cousin has been notified.
Traffic Homicide Investigators are actively working this investigation and do believe the white vehicle reported seen leaving the area (northbound on US19) was involved in racing with the victims vehicle based on witness statements. At this time there is no other information available regarding the vehicle, and no video is available for release.
Medical Examiners autopsy report has not yet been completed, this is an active investigation.
