At this hour, deputies have advised they are assisting with road closures at US-19 and Nebraska Avenue after a gas main was hit during scheduled road construction work.
At this time all northbound lanes of US 19 at Nebraska Avenue are closed to traffic; as well as all east and westbound lanes of Nebraska Avenue.
The nearby McDonald’s at 33817 US 19 has been evacuated as a precaution.
The gas main break itself is at 33805 US 19 (near Regions Bank). No other evacuations at this time.
Deputies are asking drivers to avoid the area if at all possible.
Update: At 6:15am Monday deputies announced that US-19 is now open.
