9:38 AM Update: According to Pinellas County police, the bridge is now open. They also say that they are continuing to investigate the accident and there will be another update with what actually happened in the crash but that’s hours away.
At this hour deputies are investigating a serious single vehicle crash on the Indian Rocks Bridge. All Eastbound lanes of the bridge are blocked.
Shortly after 5:00 am the Coast Guard was called to locate the driver when deputies said she jumped into the water after crashing.
Crews found the woman and the Coast Guard was called off a short time later. An ambulance is on scene and treated the driver.
There is no information on her condition yet.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area and find an alternate route.
