Tampa Man Arrested On Murder Warrant

Lewis mugshot

A Tampa man has been arrested in connection to a homicide at the Sugar Shack back in July.

Tampa Police have arrested Calvin Lewis on a warrant for first-degree murder. They responded to the Sugar Shack, located at 5110 40th Street at 1:30 a.m. on July 14th to investigate a shots’ fired call outside the club.

When they arrived on scene they were told that the victim, Rodrick Alexander, was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he later died as a result of the shot.

During the investigation, TPD homicide detectives determined that the shooting was related to a prior incident that occurred inside the club.

Detectives identified Lewis as a suspect in the Alexander’s death and they obtained a warrant for his arrest on September 3rd. The task force started conducting surveillance on Lewis’ residence at 3730 Mistwood Drive in Tampa immediately after the warrant was issued.

Lewis was located and taken into custody outside of the home. He was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail for first-degree murder.
