Shooting At Pasco County Roadside BBQ Stand

A Roadside BBQ Owner Kills Attempted Robber

A shooting occurred at a popular Pasco County BBQ stand, Jordan’s BBQ, Thursday afternoon. The owner shot and killed a would be robber.

According to Sheriff Chris Nocco, the owner shot in self defense after the robber attempted to rob the stand located in a grassy area off of Hilton Road and Eliand Blvd in Zephyrhills.

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said an unknown man walked up to the stand around 3:40 p.m. asking for money. The owner’s son told the man he would get him a job to make some money and to come back tomorrow.

“The conversation turned aggressive,” Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco said to abc action news. “He makes a statement give me the F-ing money, he uses that word, and then he says ‘I want it all.’

“On the male there was about a six to eight inch spike that was in his possession so he did have a weapon on him,” Nocco said to and action news. “The father then yells to his son who is the business owner, there is a weapon in his pocket, the business owner states he is scared, very nervous, he’s in fear and he fears he’s going to be robbed and at that point he takes out a .380 Taurus and shoots the unknown male one time.”

The owner said he feared for his life and “did what he had to do,” said Nocco.

At this time the identity of the man is still unknown. Police are trying to pull fingerprints off of him to identify him.

The business owner’s name is not being released, said Nocco. Police are working to determine exactly how close the suspected robber was when he made the threat to the father and son.
