Fun with fireworks ends with a 28 year old Pompano Beach man hospitalized. A firecracker he lit while holding it exploded in his hand. He lost three fingers on his right hand and may lose more on his left. He’s also got severe burns to his face and torso.

No end in sight to massive algae blooms that are choking off south Florida waterways and beaches. The blooms are blamed on the federal government’s release of polluted water from Lake Okeechobee to relieve stress on the lake’s dike. The blooms are so bad, the governor has declared a state of emergency.
