Tampa: Pedestrian Killed From US-19 Crash

A pedestrian was hit on US-19 just north of Tampa Road. The accident happened at 6:00 a.m. on Friday morning.

Michael Marinin, 38, of Tarpon Springs, was driving north on US-19 in the outside lane in his 2006 Toyota Corolla. Rhonda Dreher from Holiday was in the grass median and attempted to jaywalk across the road.

She was hit by Marinin and transported to Mease Countryside Hospital with serious injuries and died from her injuries around 7:30 Friday morning.

The accident shut down some lanes of US-19 but Florida Highway Patrol says the road is now back open.

The driver was not charged and sustained only minor injuries. Alcohol is not suspected to play a role in this crash.
