After a thorough investigation, Tampa Police detectives have charged James Wood, 22, in an attempted kidnapping incident that took place on August 4 in the New Tampa area. Wood approached a mother and her two children while they were in a park. He attempted to grab the mother’s infant daughter from her arms but she was able to get away from the suspect, according to police.
Officers located Wood at a local hospital within hours after the incident thanks to help from witnesses and the public. On August 7, officers took him into custody immediately after he was released from a doctor’s care. Police officers booked Wood into the Hillsborough County jail on one count of attempted kidnapping.
