HCSO Helps Arrest of Three Burglary Suspects

On July 29, 2014 at 6:29 p.m., three suspects pulled up to the access road to the HART Bus Depot located at 8951 W. Waters Ave. Willie Toledo of Tampa, 40, walked up to a male victim and demanded money and the victim’s wallet. The victim handed Toledo the fifty cents he had and Toledo removed a firearm from his waistband and struck the victim just above his left eye breaking his glasses. At that point, Toledo grabbed the victim’s backpack and fled towards a red pick-up truck and left the scene.

At 7:02 p.m., the suspects arrived at the Publix located at 7018 W. Waters Ave. As the female victim and her son were entering their vehicle in the parking lot, Lori Fawaz of Tampa, 44, walked up to the victim and asked her for money. When the victim refused, Fawaz attempted to take her purse which was around her neck. The victim and the suspect struggled, but the victim kept hold of her purse. Fawaz then entered the red pick-up truck and fled the scene.

Between 7:05 p.m. and 7:10 p.m., the suspects drove up to a female victim walking in the area of Sheldon Rd. and Gardner Rd. Amie Brown of Tampa, 39, jumped out of the truck and approached the victim from behind. Brown grabbed the victim’s purse as she demanded money. When the victim refused to cooperate, Brown pulled a black handgun from her waistband. Brown once again demanded the victim to hand over her purse, at which time the victim complied. Brown then got into the red pick-up truck and fled the scene.

At approximately 7:45 p.m., HCSO Aviation directed units to 8709 South Meadowview Circle where a vehicle closely resembling the suspect vehicle was parked behind the house. Deputies arrived and interviewed the three suspects, which were positively identified by the victims. The suspects were arrested and transported to the Orient Road Jail.
