Tampa police are on scene at the Tampa Baptist Manor Apartments where a vehicle has crashed. The driver, identified as Rico Antwan Jones (AKA Diamond), showed signs of impairment and had minor injuries.
An on patrol officer noticed the red mustang driving the wrong way on Howard Avenue. He tried to pull the car over but suspected the driver may be drunk and pulled away, per policy.
Minutes later, police got a 9-1-1 call that said a red mustang hit the building at 215 Grand Central Place.
Officers arriving on scene observed Rico Jones, walking away from the crash. Tampa Fire Rescue extinguished the vehicle flames. Jones received minor injuries and was transported to Tampa General Hospital for treatment. He since has been booked into the Orient Road Jail.
