A bicyclist was hit while crossing the road in Tampa. The incident happened at 7:58 a.m. Friday morning.
Michael Beirne, 54, was riding his bike westbound on the eastbound sidewalk of Hillsborough Avenue approaching the intersection of Longboat Boulevard.
Judith Delgato, 51, was traveling northbound on Longboat Boulevard and stopped her 2006 Nissan Altima at the stop light at that intersection. She wanted to turn right (heading east) onto Hillsborough Avenue and she struck Beirne’s bike.
The crash caused the outside lane of Hillsborough Avenue to close for 45 minutes. Beirne suffered serious injuries and Delgato was not hurt.
