A woman has died in a van vs motorcylce accident on North Habana Avenue, according to Tampa police.
The van was traveling out of 4714 Habana (Legend Oaks Apt) to turn North on Habana as the motorcycle was traveling south on Habana in the outside lane. The motorcycle driver, Charrise Tosha Griffith-Melendez of Tampa, 37, switched to the inside lane as the driver of the van, Enrique Acosta of Tampa, 76, turned out of the complex where they collided.
Griffith-Melendez was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, which is where the crash happened, where she died. Acosta was not injured.
The crash is under investigation.
The 911 call originally came into the dispatch center as a vehicle vs. bicycle crash, but once officers arrived on scene, they determined the vehicle is classified as a motorcycle.
Habana is now open to traffic.
