Tampa Apartment Complex Catches Fire

An overnight fire at a Tampa apartment complex is leaving some homeless this morning.

According to Tampa Fire Rescue, the second story of the Waterman’s Crossing Apartments caught fire at 12:34 am Monday morning on the west side of the three story apartment building. The fire was caused by “unattended cooking”, the fire marshal says.

The fire spread to the third floor and a third alarm was called in adding an additional three engine companies.

By 2 am most of the flames were out and firefighters continued to douse hot spots in the building.

Investigators from the Fire Marshal’s Office are on scene to determine the cause of the fire.

Residents were evacuated. There were no injuries reported at the scene. Several residents have been displaced.
