Sulphur Springs Murder Suspect Arrested

Louis JohnsonThe suspect wanted for a fatal shooting in the Sulphur Springs neighborhood on March 20 is now behind bars.

Johnson Louis, 18, fled the scene after pulling out a gun and shooting Keith Jones, 35, during a verbal dispute that took place in front of a home at 8108 North Semmes Street. Jones was transported to a local hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.

An intensive search for Louis led members of the US Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force and Tampa Police homicide detectives to a rural area in Polk County. After several hours of surveillance, the task force confirmed that Louis was inside a small residence in the middle of an orange grove near the corner of Banks Road & Alternate Highway 27.

Law enforcement surrounded the residence on March 25 and Louis was taken into custody without incident. Polk County Sheriff deputies assisted with the arrest and booked the suspect into the Polk County Jail where he is being held without bond.
