Students, Your Parents Can Now Check Grades On Their Phone

Orange County Public Schools’ new mobile app has gone live. And with it, student grades, lunch menus and notifications from the school district will be accessible from any mobile device.

Available for free from the Apple and Google Play app stores by searching “OCPS,” the user-friendly app prominently features positive school news, the district calendar and school district notifications. Users can select what schools they want to get notifications from.

The school district hired ParentLink in December to develop the app, signing a contract that calls for spending up to $200,000 for a contract that will run into 2016, plus two one-year renewals. A group that develops free apps for school districts criticized the move as a waste of money.
