St. Pete Intersection Crash Kills Pedestrian

The Tampa Tribune reports that a pedestrian was killed Saturday night when he was struck by a car that crashed in a St. Petersburg intersection.

Police say Jayson Jaqua, 23, was driving a 1996 Ford Thunderbird northbound on 58th Street just before 9 p.m. when he struck Ave Washington, 21, who was driving a 2010 Toyota eastbound on Central Avenue.

Jaqua, of St. Petersburg, crashed into Washington, also of St. Petersburg, in the intersection, police say.

After the impact, police say the Toyota rotated and struck Isaac Rodgers, 59, of St. Petersburg, who was crossing Central Avenue.

Rodgers was transported to Bayfront Health in St. Pete, where he was pronounced dead.
